Tip of the week Nutrition and golf? Coffee and a bacon sandwich. Maybe a bottle of water and a mars bar. Then a couple of pints and a sandwich. Sound like a familiar day at the course?
A number of players’ scores tend to waver between the 8th and 16th. Although there could be quite a few reasons for poor play, I think one that we can all control is what and how much we eat and drink during the round. A round of golf burns in excess of 1000 calories, this means that the body is working hard, because of this it needs fuel, just like your car, if it doesn’t have enough petrol then it won’t last the journey. For you, plenty of water is needed – more than 1 bottle! and some food wouldn’t go a miss either. That mars bar is good if you feel yourself starting to wilt but thinks like bananas and grains last longer and keep you going. Eat well, drink well to keep the focus and shoot lower scores.
