Autumn finally seems to have arrived with the days a little cooler and a little more moisture in the air. Now is a good time to check your waterproofs. Have they seen better days? Back by popular demand is the Proquip Pro-Flex suit. It is lightweight but durable with waterproof zips and Velcro cuffs to ensure a good fit.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Andrew for winning European gold at the European Aikido Championships in Valencia last weekend. Andrew entered 4 events however the main focus was on one specific event known as the Tanto Junanahon which he and his partner took decisive victories through every round. This bodes well for them in the World Championships in Japan next year.
Greens News
Please be aware that we have sprayed with Nemotodes recently. These are a microscopic worm that kills over 200 species of pest, there should be no detrimental effect on the putting surface but please ensure that you wash your hands after play.
We have a couple of weeks break whilst everyone gets back into the school routine. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in October for more fun and learning.
The dates are listed on the poster attached here.
The Lob shot. With the ground getting softer the idea of throwing the ball in the air most of the way to the hole can make life a little easier rather than trying to predict the bounce. Here is a little checklist of what to change at set up to execute the shot:
- Open the stance a little - Open the clubface a little - Play the ball a fraction further forward in the stance - Keep 60% of the weight on the front foot
From here make a normal swing along the lines of your body, this will feel like you 'cut across the ball' a bit. The ball should pop up high in the air and not roll much when it lands. For further help, please speak to Ady or Andy.

Video of the week | It's not long now until the chest thumping and fist pumping starts, and in the build up to this year's Ryder Cup at Hazeltine, a few of the players have been busy slapping on a bit of face paint. Time to book your place in front of the TV, or down the club, and watch all the action on Sky Sports. |
