Hello Golfers, 

 

Updating the Course

The 15th Hole is still out of use due to the work being carried out but all is moving forward. Everything is looking good for the coming season.

   

The course is being monitored daily with the hope of returning onto the proper greens soon, however all depends on the weather. More clear days and some warmth are needed for the grass to recover so that preparations can be made for the season.

Please check the daily course information with regards the course/ holes being open. With the recent poor weather, to save inconvenience, it would be advisable to call ahead.


 

Saturday Stableford
Division One: In first place was Sean Campbell with 38 points followed by Andrew Houlding in second with 36 points. Just one point behind in third place came Mark Chapman with 35 points. 
Division Two: In first place was Saul Peltier on 38 points, second was Malcolm Ratcliffe on 37 points and in third was Ed Dabrowski with 35 points.
Division Three: First went to Dave Rigg with a 37 point haul. Second came Dave Kitching with 36 points 3pts ahead of third placed Victor Wood who scored 33 points.

Captains Last Hurrah 

The Winning team was Mick Scholes, Adrian Massey, Pete Robinson & Dave Longthorn well done to all.


 

Junior's Progress

Great work this week from the juniors. With the weather being a little kinder to us, we ventured out into the practise bunker. Most passed the bunker challenge in their booklets, it's not long now until we will have our first recipient of the bronze award. 

The Wilkinson Sword Junior Championship will be held this year, this first time since 2013. Entries are open now.

Let if fly...

With varied conditions out there at the moment now is a great time to learn how to use them to your advantage. If it's down wind, tee it high and let it fly. If it's soft, you can fly it at the hole and it will stop a bit quicker.

Tried and Tested

This week Andy tested the Stromberg Wintra Trousers. Theses have a comfortable fit in various waist and leg sizes as well as a coating that makes them water resistant. They are made up of three layers which keep you warm out on the course and are a great replacement for those who don't like too many layers. They have great flexibility to the rigours of playing a round and any mud just wipes off with a wet cloth. Since trying them I've gone and bought another pair. Great from course to clubhouse.
